Georgia 400 Toll All The Way?

Hey, Cumming residents! Want to add many dollars per day to the cost of your daily commute into Atlanta?

Well, a private company called Washington Group International has just the plan for you. They have proposed putting up electronic scanners, at the site of the present toll booths in Dunwoody, along with scanners all along the highway up to Cumming. You could breeze through the toll booth but you'll be tracked all the way north, and pay for every mile you drive.

While the local media talked about this as a technology play, this is actually a plan to privatize the state's highway system, starting with Georgia 400. It's relatively easy to start there because it's state-run, but WGI has already done these kinds of projects in other states.

I smell a good political issue here. Discuss.
